Our Farm
Nutmeg Farm brings together land, livestock, working dogs, and practical stewardship through daily observation and meaningful work.
The farm is an environment where behavior has context and every relationship develops through experience. Terrain, weather, livestock, scent, movement, timing, and consequence are part of the work rather than background to it.
Our approach is grounded in the belief that useful traits are best understood when animals have an appropriate place to apply them. Dogs learn through real responsibility, while livestock are raised and managed with respect for their natural behavior and purpose.
Everything on the farm is connected. The condition of the land influences the livestock, the livestock shape the work, and the work develops the dogs and people responsible for it.
Stewardship begins with paying attention: to soil, weather, forage, housing, animal condition, social structure, and the pressure created by every management decision.
The goal is not simply to use the landscape, but to understand it well enough to support healthy animals, purposeful work, and long-term balance.
